I have a America 2007 which is my first bike. I bought it in 2014 and do about a 1000 miles per year going to work. I use the America pretty much all year round.

Being a first bike I had to get to know the America with no issues apart from the clutch. no matter where I set the cable setting the clutch either drags or slips. Also every gear change either is silent or a loud clunk. Not knowing much about this bike I took it to the dealer, they took a ride and said everything was fine.

That was last year. About a month ago I noticed the clutch was getting worse, very difficult to change gears or slipping. The bike has done 9800miles and I read that the stock springs are weak so I bought a set of EBC heavy duty springs and fiction plates with the plan to swap them on Friday. I have the Manual and build race cars so I don't have any fears of swapping the clutch myself.

Could the drive plates be warped?

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks

Measure the height of your clutch springs and compare the length to the new ones, they should be exactly the same. Clutch plates that are worn out, will show their wear and pattern.

The Triumph dealer changed the oil so I would presume an oil that Triumph recommends? I'm taking the clutch off tomorrow so I'll take some photos.

The clutch looks very similar to the clutch plate LSD's I run in the race cars so I'm looking forward to seeing what the issue is.

Apart from the clutch the America is a very nice ride.

I did the clutch job last Friday without any issues. I didn't find anything nasty , 2 clutch plates a little worn, and 1 spring shorter that the other 3. I fitted the EBC brakes parts and all seemed well. I didn't have time to ride/check the clutch as I have to leave for work overseas. I'll check in a few weeks.
