I hope so...given my own experience with a Thunderbird LT, this is a deeply flawed engine. OK so I might have been unlucky ( I usually am unlucky mechanically)but I think this engine should be buried in an unmarked grave.
I've owned 2 Thunderbirds a 1600 and currently a Commander 1700. Never had a problem with either. I completed a 5,000 mile trip to the south east from Tulsa to Key West and back this past September. My Commander never missed a beat. Smooth as silk. I love the bike and engine. The engine was designed to get good gas mileage. I get the exact same mileage I got w my TBA w loads more torque and power. When ever I ride 2 up there's no noticeable loss in power like on my TBA. Also a side benefit was I paid the exact same insurance premium. What's not to love?
