I have kept my Shoei full face helmet on my bike either in the garage or under a cover while parked under an overhang. This has not been a problem for going on 3 years. Yesterday I pulled the bike out and removed the cover to go for a ride. When I picked up my helmet off the passenger backrest ANTS started pouring out of the helmet. I'm not talking about a few, those suckers had nested in the helmet overnight. Luckily I have a Victory 1/2 shell that my little brother had come across so I pulled it out of storage and caught a face full of bugs all day. Today I looked at the Shoei again and the lining is separated from the padding inside the helmet one $350 helmet down the drain. Went online and ordered a replacement today. I guess it will stay in the house with me

Unless they did some real damage why not just take the lining out and wash it? I clean the inside of my HJC every year or so just to keep it from stinking.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Can you not order a new interior? I am looking for a helmet myself, but I have been wearing G MAX and the interior is removable, washable, and replaceable. Guess I should make sure whatever I buy has this is a feature.

I can remove the chin and cheek pads. Have not been able to get the rest of the interior out. The ants literally destroyed the foam in the top of the helmet so that the liner is just hanging. I have ordered a new helmet but will hang onto the shell and look into a new interior.

My helmet collection is in a half open carport. I have to periodically chase a nest out of a few of them. That's gonna change when I finish my new motorcycle/building trades building in a few weeks. I probably would have gone to the ARK rally except for the money going to the building instead.

If the EPS layer is damaged then the protection has been compromised - I suggest replacing that helmet.
