I've had this idea for a while that a bare-bones electric motorcycle - sort of a chopper/bobber esthetic - might look pretty cool. Here's somebody who's mounted a serious motor and enough batteries to punch it on a beefy bike frame. It's got suspension and brakes but it's not meant to be street legal. This build is a few years old but I can see this being a worthwhile direction for electric one-off's.

The heading got me excited! I thought your thread was going to be about Preston Petty...

Might do alright as long as they don't go over 10 laps. Looks like a battery swap would take a bit longer than pouring in another 3 gallons of fuel.

Man, those Zero electric motorcycles are amazing! My friend sells them at his shop, I took a few of them out for joyrides and they are absolutely incredible, the acceleration, so smooth, no shifting, silent... and with plenty of streetable range at almost 200 miles it would be a super fun commuter bike or weekend toy. I rode the SR with the sport tune and let's just say it it something special doing the ton with no noise except wind. If I could justify a 4th bike (after I get a third one) it would be one of these.

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I'd totally do an electric bike. Or a car. I like that stuff. Would I miss the rumble of the pipes? Yeah, some, but it's still cool stuff.

Yes I'd give one a try for sure.

That zero doesn't look too bad for a non-cruiser.Your 500 Triumph still looks sharper IMO though

I'm definitely on board with electric cars and bikes.
That being said, I'm also on board with more liquid-cooled motorcycles.

My problem is, the shifting and sound is what I like about Motorcycles!!! If I wanted silent and smooth I could buy a used Gold Wing.
