I rented an Ultra Glide and coming back from AZ in NV over the Hoover dam (maybe 2009 so just before they finished the bypass bridge ) in stationary traffic, that thing near enough cooked my legs.
Loaded with luggage and a pillion it was impossible to do anything other than sit there and cook
It was like an oven anyway going over the dam and it was over 100 degrees back out on the road so there was virtually no relief from the heat of the bike even then.

100 degree Arizona heat on a full fairing touring bike would be hot no doubt but the fairing and lowers would be welcome most seasons in other parts of the country like Milwaukee for example. You would have had a cooler ride if you'd have rented a Road King.

And a lot of the excess heat these days is because of catalytic converters.
