MY 1200CC UPGRADE FROM 790CC IS FINALLY DONE. I HAD THE CRANK STROKED .250 BY MARINE CRANKSHAFT, TWO 42MM MIKUNI CARBS, THE CASE BORED OUT FOR THE 101MM (3.976) CYLINDERS, WEBB PERFORMANCE GROUND CAMS, STEEL OIL PUMP GEARS, BARNETT CLUTCH UPGRADE WITH RED SPRINGS, PORTING AND VALVE JOB WAS DONE BY CARPENTER RACING AND WISECO FORGED PISTONS WERE INSTALLED. NOW IT'S TIME TO WELD THE ENGINE MOUNTS TO THE FRAME. IT TOOK ME SOME TIME TO FINISH THE MOTOR CAUSE OF PAYING OFF MY KIDS COLLEGE TUITION. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PLAY MONEY FOR A LONG TIME. Congrats, I would love to do that mod but only once my engine needs to be rebuilt. Have fun with that monster bet it'll fly.

Thanks for the pics and update. Looking forward to hearing how your engine works out. Oh, and thanks for explaining about the caps. I wondered why you were yelling at me.

I have not had the time to work on it, life gets in the way sometimes. First step is to build a new 16' X 24' shed to work in, I am out of space. I do have the new engine and the frame I got from you along with a few other key parts to get going waiting for me. Trouble with my job being on call 24hrs 3 days out of the week and having my grand kids 2 1/2 days doesn't leave much time. This weekend would have been a great time to get going on the shed but we have had heavy rain last 2 days. The grand kids are away visiting their grand mother so I had all the time to myself! I still haven't made up my mind if I want to cut the frame for the long front end or get a shorter one and leave the frame as it is.

how much was the crank rework? and where is that shop located?
did you go with the Carillo rods or stay with the OEM?

The rods are Carrillo. Marine Crankshaft did the stroke. They also check your crank for straightness and cracks. They will polish your journals, and heat treat and nitride the crank. go online and read about their work. They've been in business a long time. I used Bonnieville Performance Big Bore kit. It comes with carrillo rods, 101mm billet cylinders and the Wiseco pistons. I sent my camshafts and crankshaft to Webb camshaft and Marine crankshaft. I called Ferra valves and had them make my valves.

Well Ian don't give up. I've read articles where guys have started a build (whether it was a car or bike), and life threw them a curve ball. they had to take care of families, responsibilities at work, etc....etc. and they never gave up. After a few years they completed their build.

Oh I know, I have had to put bikes on hold before. With any luck I should be able to start by fall. (maybe wishful thinking but that is what I hiope) If I can get the new shed built and power to it. It is going to be a work shop. Going to put my work bench, welders, bike lift, lathe, milling machine, drill press, etc out there in one place. Might even run TV cable out there!

DON'T LAUGH. I HAVE CABLE IN MY SHOP AND A TELEPHONE LINE. AT ONE TIME I EVEN HAD A STEREO SYSTEM IN THE SHOP. NOW I JUST USE A PORTABLE STEREO BOX WITH CD AND FLASH DRIVE CAPABILITY IT MADE FOR AN EASY TIME WHILE I WAS BUILDING THE MOTOR.

I have a top of the line Sony boom box out there(shed where my bike is now). It is 20+ years old but holds 6 CDs and really cranks and sounds very good. It is the kind that the speakers detach and can be moved away from the box. So music is covered. I used to build bikes in my living room watching TV, I like to have the news on when I build.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Already thought of that, have to see what I have for floor space once all my tools and lift are out there. Started to build it last weekend, should start actual framing on Sunday. Broke the pile down and cut the box parts and floor joists but didn't get anything assembled yet. Had a picnic at my moms on Monday (my other day off) so got nothing done that day and spent a few hrs at Lowes to exchange lumber that wasn't correct.
