Well Mac, I certainly hope WHOEVER they hire for that position knows enough about the subject to express the enlightened thought to the public that that mass-produced SWILL the large American beer companies hawk to us on TV, and in most cases featuring the idea of "what a great time you can have at parties while drinking it"...is just THAT...tasteless swill!
Nope, call me "an elitist" if ya want, but THAT crap hasn't touched MY lips since I discovered a couple of decades ago how much better the beer is which the smaller and/or micro-breweries can supply us.
(...yep, SORRY any of you Bud, Coors and Miller aficionados around here)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I never touch the stuff, but as a historian one would have to taste er I mean know about all of them. How many medium to large cities had lots and lots of breweries, KC had like more than 10 with actual refrigerated plumbing under the streets to supply bars.

I would like to think that I am qualified for such a job. Many years in the craft brewing industry. However the salary they list! for living in the DC area! You be hard pressed to live decent on that. They will end up with a second or third rate brewer/ first rate BSer
05 speedmaster - 1100cc, 11:1 racing pistons, Carillo rods, thunderbike cams, ported and polished head, 2mm over intake and exhaust valves, Barnett kevlar clutch, scepter pipes, oversize manifolds, 45mm HSR's, TTP stage 4 firestarter

Well it IS a government job!
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Ya know Larry, perhaps THIS is why your OWN political career never got off the ground?!

All pols are BSers/posers, some like Bill Clinton has it down to a science, the biting of the lower lip, the thumbs up, the head and body movement. He makes it seeming natural, it's why everyone likes him as a pol even if they hate him.
But all the cool in the world can't overcome political demographics.
