My insurance is up for renewal soon. Any UK companies I should get a quote from?

I paid £220 fully comp last time, with Carole Nash, and I'm hoping that will come down a bit as I will have another years NCB (touches wood that I don't have any incidents in the next 4 weeks), and the bike will be worth less than this time last year.

For info, I'm 40 ish, clean licence, 1 minor bump (reversed my wifes car into a bollard in a car park 2 1/2 years ago), and the bike is garaged when at home.

Well mine is £300 Full comp, 1 years no claims, 1 complete write off, and one claim of £1200.00 worth of damage down to a little girl that decided to run out on me... Oh and also have the 125cc scooter included on that as well fully comp. forgot to mention who with Motorcycles Direct

Hi Simon - try e-bike e-bike they were 50% cheaper than Carole Nash when I insured the BM - you can do it all online, too. Give 'em a whirl - might get a result

And just for the info, BMW R1200GS @ 100 BHp = £154 fully comp. no excesses with e-bike. Top company . Now pass me my zimmer frame (the one with the go-faster stripes is mine... )

Gina - if it's any consolation, in 1986 I paid £700 to insure a car. It was a MG Montego, which wasn't exactly a sports car, but was a bit sportier than an average saloon. A combination of being young, having a brother-in-law who virtually wrote off my previous car while driving on my insurance, and a conviction for riding a bike with no insurance* meant that I was a high risk for insurers.

*I was guilty of having no insurance (as the copper pointed out while I was lying in a hospital bed with both legs in traction and an arm in plaster, and the magistrate later confirmed), but it was a genuine mistake. Riding without insurance is neither big nor clever.

114.45 fully comp, garaged in a lock up down the road, no alarm, full NCD from Bennetts, and still think thats expensive. Remember the time I had 4 bikes, Tiger 750, T100ss, T90 and a BSA C15 on one insurance for 30 quid, now your talking old fart.

MG Montego...I remember those...Bit like the MG Metro - an Austin with a silly plastic badge on....and go faster stripes!!

But anyway there's more to life than having money in the bank account.

Try Bennetts, got mine for £180 fully comp.

I have used e-bike for about 1.5 years and have been very happy. I have 2 bikes (including a 2006 BA) insurd with them for about £165!

That would be like me paying £3000 for insurance on my bike....and there's no need for that!

I also have my little bike, and that £300....3PF&T. However when she got moved to my parents I got a £30 rebate cos she's in a garage... That's with Bennetts.

Come July I'm looking at a 2-bike policy. I didn't know what to ask for at the time. Still not sure if I know what I'm doing now!

Oh yeah and members of MAG get a discount at e-bike. Go from the MAG homepage...

An update - I got quotes from most of the places recommended by you all, and the cheapest was £155. Carole Nash wrote to me to tell me that my renewal premium was £197. After a few minutes on the phone, and me convincing them that the quote of £155 was real (it was) they've managed to come down from £197 to £151

I'm pretty chuffed with that, especially as I only have 2 years no-claims.

Still say it's not fair...I've done a bit of lokoing around for quotes and I can get around £180...but 3rd F&T.

And don't forget our circumstances are different - I'm on limited mileage (5000/year), garaged overnight, not used for commuting, held my licence for 20+ years, etc etc.

£180 TPFT doesn't sound too bad.

just checked out my cover- comp, with carol naish, member of Institute of Advanced Riders, garaged, no accidents quiet area etc- £245.- you all seem to be getting good deals at my expense!

The insurance company also pulled the you cant use your car no claims discount of 10 years on the bike- so I have 2 years ncd, 40 , bald, cockney- and I live in Yorkshire!..its getting worse as I type!
