Hi guys,
I have a 2005 America but don't have a manual for it. Does anyone know what the recommended tire pressure is per the manual?

You do not have decal/sticker on your frame, just ahead of your fuel tank on the right side? I start with the stated max imprinted on the sidewalls of my tires and tweak the pressure +/- a pound or two to my liking. Once you find what works for you, go to Costco and change out the air for Nitrogen and your pressures will pretty much stay there until you get new tires, regardless of Temp fluctuations and load differences. You should still check your tire pressures on a regular basis for safety precautions, because I abhor reading obits.

For awhile sometime ago this was a conversation that went in every direction . It seems that everyone has an opinion and it seems to vary all through the 30s but on Chy's recommendation I have been running 41 front and 42 rear and have found it to be just right in all conditions. Main thing I think is to keep it at what you decide is right for you because if it changes by much it seems like it starts cupping and you will need to replace prematurely. Keep it consistent

Cupping was the reason I started using Nitrogen, because the pressure stayed put. I didn't figure that out myself, I was advised by an old local bike guru, who listened to me rant on the subject.

I run my pressure in the mid 30s and have not had any cupping, I even got really great wear out of the original Lasertech that was on the front.I forget exactly but I got around 15,000 out of it I think and it was bald all the way across with just a hint of the tread left in the center.

Same as Dog, mid 30's. 36 F&R. Perfect for our tight roads. Never have had cupping.

I weigh 160 and ride single, so 40 in both works good for me. Anything less I get some cupping and a small tank slapped wobble when I let go of the bars.*
* that is another story

I weigh about 225 and can ride all the way down long windy hills around the corners and never touch the bars with no wobble at all. As stated above, do what works best for you, tires are not all made the same.

My tires do just fine on 78% nitrogen  I used to run higher pressures, but now tend to run about 31F/36-37R. My front tire is a 130/70.

I went for a short 60km ride to blow the cobwebs out yesterday.It was good to be on the bike again.
Before I went, I called at the Tire shop and checked the nitrogen they put in before I left.It was only down a couple of pounds in each wheel after 4 months.I used to top up the air before I left it and it would lose about a pound every week or so.

My triple tree sticker say 30F/32R
2010 America efi.
Which do I believe?

No, the chain I ignore except for adjustment now. The tires I do check but rarely need any air.

No, the chain I ignore except for adjustment now. The tires I do check but rarely need any air.
Mine with cast wheels loses air.As I said one or two pounds a week.No big deal until I need to store it long term.Spokes and an inner tube seems to hold the air better I've been told .The cast wheels and tubeless tires seem to lose air more quickly.

Paul, You have leaks, soapy water will bear this out. We refer to it as "Snoopy" in the Boilermaker/Pipefitter trades. You can buy this,web page or just mix dish soap with water in a old ketchup squeeze bottle.

I have cast wheels too, the leak could be the wheel itself, some alloy wheels are porous enough to allow air to pass through them. That being said I think you have a leak besides that.

Could be,but I only lost a couple of pounds pressure in 4 months with the nitrogen so I'm happy with that.
I'll check again next week.
Ryk I remember my Dad checking a Bicycle wheel like that for leaks.

I run mine 34 front and 36 rear I think that's about the maximum pressure in my manual from memory.

Mine states the same. Have found 35 PSI front & rear works well for me.
edit: Makes me wonder how much the ideal tire air pressure depends on the tire itself, construction and brand? I'm currently running Michelin Commander II.

Yes 35 in both. 34/36-35/37 all good.I think 30F is a bit low.For me anyway.I've got Bridgestone Exedras .
