I would love one of those! I love my 64 BMW R50, great dependable fun bike. I ride it alone since it isn't very quick and sucks trying to keep up with bigger bikes but it's a blast around the mountain and once I get the rubber band wound up it will do 80mph all day long on the highway.

Maybe some of the early BMW plunger type rear suspension would be good while keeping with the style.

Plunger-styled rear ends went the way of the Dodo for good reason ya know, Paul.

The rear axle was prone to hike at different levels/heights during their compression and thus not keeping the axle "true", or at least as true as the swing arm rear suspension which would supplant it.

(...I actually think the rear end on this concept looks pretty damn smart...I can't really see it all that well, but it looks like a take on the Harley softail design)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yeah Dwight, I know.Along with sprung hubs, girder forks etc.
I thought it was a hard-tail.
On further inspection I think it is a softtail
If it is, it'd be good to go.

Depends on the plunger style rear. I own a plunger type BMW but it has a swing arm connected to the plungers. Those towers that look like shocks are not oil dampened just springs. I like dampened (friction) girder front ends.

BMW may be on the verge of remembering that their motorcycle used to combine function with style. My 58 R69 is still a pleasure to ride.

Nice looking bike, now add mirrors, front fender, turn signals and a tag and see what it really looks like. Darn government regulations can screw up the nicest bikes.

Verticle tag near the rear axle, minimal fender similar to the one on the rear, and small stylish mirror on one side and it would still be a great looking machine.

Sounds good to me,except are vertical tags legal where you live? their not in Michigan. Mirrors must be of a certain size to be legal and lights must be DOT approved. I know well that most buyers would modify the bike much like you described but I thought Penn. had very strict inspection standards, I believe they do for cars.

The inspection sticker on my BMW is 1985 and the one on my 04 Triumph is 04, my 66 TR6C has never had a sticker on it to my knowlege. Those are the 3 bikes I ride out of my collection. I justb went to the hillclimbs in Freemansburg and there were state troopers and a few locals everywhere and no one bothered me. I figure even if I get a ticket now I will have saved a bunch of money. Seeings that a ticket for bad inspection on a bike is $40. You have to be doing something stupid to get pulled over for something else to get a ticket for it here for the most part. Then add in that the shop I work in does the repairs and maitenence on the state police and local police cars and I know most of them. We are also on police rotation for wrecks and impounds and such for towing. Then couple that with inspections is up to the descretion of the inpection mechanic and is just a safety inspection. No front fender passes, so does verticle plate. Those small custom mirrors do too and you only have to have one.
There are also talks of eliminating inspection all together.
