I just called Triumph U.K.
I got through OK but got transferred from the switchboard to someone's voice mail."I'm out of the office ATM etc....."
Anyway I left a message saying I hoped we got a 1,200cc America/Speedy cruiser.with my e-mail address. It didn't cost much to call and I feel better.Maybe if a few more called we may even get something done, who knows
If I get an e-mail reply I'll post it.
If not I may call again in a week or so with a more prepared message in case I get voice mail again.

In maybe 2005 or 2006 (I forget which), I went on my first factory tour.
During the Q&A after the tour, I asked ... "now that there is a big cc cruiser with the Rocket and small cc cruisers with the America & Speedmaster, will there be a model to slot in between?"
The answer I got was "I couldn't possibly say yes or no to that!"

I also asked ... "will Triumph consider a bike for the sub-500cc market"
The reply was "categorically no, we do not see any need to try and enter that category".

So, in 2008 they announced the 1600cc Thunderbird and at some point Triumph also started developing an Indian built 250cc (ok, they shelved that bike).

What I'm getting at is, if you have the time and the need to call them, excellent. It will be good actually because if they do give you an answer, look out for the opposite to be the truth

I know what you're saying here, Ade.

I've always gotten the impression they answer such inquiries about future models in that sort of vague manner is because they believe any specific talk of the subject might tend to inhibit the sales of their present model line.

(...in other words they're saying, "Why wait? Purchase your new Triumph today because who knows if tomorrow we'll make what you think you really might want. Maybe we will, maybe we won't.")

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

WE know that something will change in the 2017 model year that is for sure. Question is 900 or 1200. I doubt we get an answer either way.

They have to many new 2014 and 2015 models sitting in dealers to put a carrot out for people to wait till next year.

I test rode a 2014 America before buying my 2005 America used. I prefer the older styling. If I bought new today it would be a Speedmaster. I am more interested in the styling that will accompany the new engine.

If they can keep the weight down 1200 cc would be sweet.

I wasn't really asking if one was in the planning, it was saying they should make one, and saying "I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE!I WANT ONE!" while stamping my feet, holding my breath, and banging my fists. Very politely of course.

I don't expect I'll hear from them.
We shall see.

It doesn't really do the company any good to unveil their big product launches via phone, one customer at a time. They spend a bunch of money to have much anticipated press launches around major model introductions.

I wasn't saying "Are you going to make a 1,200 cruiser?"

I was making a suggestion "You SHOULD make a 1,200 cruiser as a lot of folks want one!"

I've heard that the Speedy is getting the 900 engine and the America is getting the 1200
Can't say who I heard it off (can't remember) but it was off someone who would have no particular knowledge of Triumphs plans
Alcohol was also a factor in the conversation

A 1,200 America would be terrific. There's a cozy spot in my garage for one.
