Looks like the ME 880 rear tire supply is drying up. I don't want a ME 888. The IRC Wild Flare WF920 might be a good choice. Any others I ought to consider?

The front is currently an ME880 130/70-18, which is in great shape with plenty of life remaining.

I've been happy with my Avon Venom. It rides and handles well, wet or dry. I've only got about 3K miles on it and it should be good for another 2 thou without any problem. I'm not hard on tires though.

I have been running a Pirelli on my '05, 10000 miles so far and I'm under no immediate pressure to replace it yet.

The current ME880 has about 12500 mi on it, it can do more, however it appears worn in the center & I want to replace it based on want, rather than need. This tire is also a veteran of a half-dozen or so dyno runs...

Any reason not to consider a Michelin Commander II?

I am running a Michelin Commander II with around 7k on it. Very happy with it. No problems wet or dry and showing very little wear so far.

Good...that could be my next rear tire.

Which Pirelli, Ryk?
How is it in the wet?

How are they in the wet, there is a question, I'm immimently qualified to answer. I have the Night Dragons and they stick to wet asphalt as good as any I have tried in the past, Metz, Avons, Bridgestones, etc. They go for a decently low price too, if you shop, I think I paid $109 delivered, IIRC.

I would recommend Michelin Commander 2 tires. Very long life on mine so far. Got about 12,000 kms on them and not even half done. The handling is great for me but that is always a subjective topic.

Those Commander are advertised as long wearing, that's a good trick if the tire s durometer isn't super hard, which in my experience means a loss of traction, specially on wet surfaces. Michelin has a good overall public reputation, I can only attest to the cycle tires I have tried. If I ride long enough, I'll give them a try on your recomidation,

I ran some 80,000 mile Michelins on a 914 Porsche back in the early 70s and they lasted every guaranteed mile.
