Sure, just don't start the motor

If you want to run the motor, then ceramic coating will work out much better:

When i powder coat the foot peg brackets i sell the oven has to be 400ºF for the powder to bake properly. It jells at around 170º which means that the powder goes from powder looking to a shiny finish and flows/fuses. I'd ceramic coat them as powder coat would definitely get soft and any road dirt or debris would get embedded into the finish. My other bike has the pipes ceramic coated in silver and also the turbo housing has been coated and they still look good.
Yes i did say turbo! I have a 1982 Seca 650 Turbo.

I painted the complete exhaust system on a Speedmaster with HVT High temp. Two years later I sold the bike and it was holding up very well.
The only problem I found was my boot would occasionally rub the slip on and scuff the paint. As for the headers I thought they looked great.

Wade, let me know how that works for you; I really need to ceramic coat the headers on the Scram as the hi temp paint just isn't holding up very well.

Eastwood sells some ceramic exhaust paint. I would imagine you would have to bead blast the intended surfaces at the minimum to get the advertised results. I seem to remember, Eastwood is very proud, pricewise of their product too. If you get a guarantee from Jet-Hot, they may be the route to go.

I got the headers on my wife's Speedy ceramic coated. The previous try with the HVT paint didn't work out so well.

The shop that I used was ASCO American Stripping Co located in Manassas Park, VA. www.ascoweb.com

Job cost me about $130 if memory serves.

I've done ceramic and VHT paint on other bikes & in my experience found that ceramic is more costly, but far more durable.
