I was sitting and thinking today??? (yes I am at work and get paid to sit here and check the BA forums again)… But anyway I was wondering do they have a “Rally†for Triumph riders here in the south west? NV, AZ,CA, CO? I know they have the Idaho Invasion but for some of us that is over 1000 miles one way. Maybe we could get something going down here. Then like every 5 years or so we can pick a spot and get to gather with the Idaho guys? Just thinking!!! Any thoughts?

Nope, nothing down this way as of yet. There just doesn't seem to be enough owners in the southwest to get anything going. I think as far as longtime regulars go, it's just me, Becky, Bud in Albq, NM, and you might include Dwight since he has a house in Prescott. I'm kind of suprised though some ba.com event hasn't sprung up from the Southern California area. You'd think there would be enough owners around LA to have a gathering.
From my perspective in Tucson, Idaho is a long haul...about 1300 miles from where they had the event last year IIRC. It's not easy taking a trip that far away. With 3 days of riding to get there, and another 3 coming back, you'd need a good 10-14 days to do it. One of these years I plan on making the Georgia Rally. Just need to get a pile of money together to afford the 2 week trip.

Evanman, you're in Mesquite! Great riding roads around. North Rim, Cedar Breaks, Lake Mead, just for starters. I think there might be enough SWers for a get together if someone had the time and inclination to organize it. Gonna get hot soon, so higher elevs would be nice.

Ya know Derek, NM and AZ aren't the entire Southwest. .

it would take you a good two days ride to get to Idaho. Maybe not a good idea. And what do you meen by getting hot soon. I die when I go outside now. I had to turn my AC on to 61 just so I could sleep. I like the hot weather sometimes. I think I am going to die down here. Crap I am from WY!!! I only got summer about 2 months and then a hot day was 70 or 75... Lets see how many reply to this message.. Maybe we can hook things up. Even if we only start a "get to gather" Who knows. There is a big biker thing down around bullhead today. so we will give it a week. I have heard that it is really nice to go to CA then down to the end into mexico. They have $5.00 crab and lobster fresh and like $0.25 beers right on the cost. but I am like you... IF we are going to do it we need to get somthing going in the next 3 weeks or so. my wife is allready at the end of her 6th month. She will come with us but I dont want her riding in her 8th months.. that might be bad so I only have 2 months left to ride.

I dont know how you guys handle the heat all the time. Like I said summer is going to kill me..
The next free sunday I have will be the 20th.. We can plan a maybe ride. I have ordered jets. Need installed and I still need AZ plantes and insurance. but I should have all 3 of them done by the 20th... So lets shoot for that sunday.
"Evanman, Let me know if you'd like to meet some weekend, maybe around Overton. The North Shore road is one of my favorite rides."
Anyone else want to come sunday the 20th?

Sorry about that bigbill. I knew I'd leave people out of my post...I'm terrible with names and places in here.
While it might not be a mandantory figure, I'd think 10-12 people would be the minumum for a ba.com rally. Of course there's nothing in the unofficial rulebook that says that, so that's just IMHO.
Supposed to be in the 90's here this coming week, so summer is quickly upon us. I could easily talk my wife into a Vegas trip, because her daughter lives there.

yes May 21, 2006!!!
I'm in flagstaff - I'd be up for something. Vegas is a stretch for the day (cause it takes so dang long to get over the dam dam), but Kingman is an easy day ride.... But I think we should try to do some sort of SW ba.com thing - include the socal guys, az, nv, nm....but I am NOT volunteering to organize! And Evanman - what the HECK are you doing in Beaver Dam AZ? Never been there, had to look it up on the map. Thats up on the Az Strip, no easy way to get there from here! The Grand Canyon is in the way! Becky

Well I acturaly work in Mesquite NV. I could not afford to live there. A 3 bedroom house was like $380,000.00 In Beaver Dam it is about $180,000. So I drive the 10 miles to mesquite for work...

Val - I understand about the high cost of living. If I had to move to Flagstaff now and buy a house, probably wouldn't happen. I lucked out 5 and half years ago. Take care. Becky

In re-reading and thinking about this - the North Rim of the Grand Canyon would be cool....maybe not stay in the Park but at Jacobs Lake or something. Maybe either late spring or early fall...when the weather isn't so hot in the deserts. I don't think the North Rim opens until sometime in May, and closes in October ususally. Fall we would have to avoid or put up with the monsoons.....spring the possibility of snow.... Just a thought. Now all you great thinkers ponder and come up with a plan!! Becky

My wife and I spent our 10th anniversary at the North Rim, and it's a beautiful place. However, if you want to ride a bit, it's not exactly ideal. There's basically just one road in and one road out from Jacob's Lake. I would think the Prescott area would be ideal. It's more centrally located in Arizona, about 2,000ft lower in elevation which would make it ideal for late spring and early fall, and there's plenty of twisty roads with scenic views, We could buzz over to Sedona, or go on that ride we did last year out to Kirkland Jct. It's 250 miles from Las Vegas to Prescott, which is about the same distance from Tucson, so this makes it a nice easy day ride for everybody....unless your Bud in Albuqurque. Even for him it's 415 miles to Prescott, not bad. From Los Angeles it's 379 miles, so anybody in Socal could also get there in a day. What do you think? Hmmm...who do we know in Prescott?

A stop in Kingman for gas and coffee, that'd work .

My x-wife gets my kids every other weekend so I need to go get them. I dont mind so lets shoot for something. What time date and where...
BigBill: I still want to ride with you on the 21st.

Well....there IS this one very opinionated jerk who I know has a place there.
But he ain't so bad to be around if you can steer him clear of those two controversial topics of politics and religion.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I know that you're refering to yourself Dwight. After all I am also opinionated, but not a jerk . You and I could probably talk politics and get along fairly well . As for religion, well, my comments have always be reactive. That is, I won't start if you don't
