Seems backwards, I would have thought 1200 for the SM and 900 for the BA.I would like to see a return to spokes for the BA and a return to dual disc for the SM and knee indents for both.
I want to see a 1,200cc BA [ActuallyI'd like a 1,200 and a 900 of each]

I agree, 900 for America and 1200 for Speedmaster makes more sense. The Speedmaster has been the performance imaged bike, the America the boring sister.

The Speedy and Americas differences are only superficial anyway. Why not a 1,200 and 900 option of both.

I did ask about the America/Speedy and no one seems to have heard anything yet.

No problem, I just wish that I had something concrete to report on that front.

I would go with a T120, it looks great, and not being a cruiser has a purist appeal to it.

I have very little interest in a 1200 unless my 790 wears out. Had 1200s been available sooner and 1200cc engines on the used market I might have opted for one for the chopper I am building but I have an 865 now and am going to use old Amal carbs from an 850 Commando I restored and put new carbs on. These have about 6,000 miles on them and are stored in the boxes the new ones came in. Might not even have to jet them since only 15cc difference.

I'm sure you can "build" a 790 to give High Horsepower, but Torque is what counts in my book. It is a lot easier to get Big Torque with Cubic Inches. The only thing I dislike about my America is that I need to wind it up to get power, It just feels wrong to wring out a cruiser. It's all a matter of personal preference but I prefer my power down low.

I'm not racing anywhere, I ride with guys on HD mostly and they can't get away from me so what more do I need? My bike does what I want when I want it, doesn't let me down, and is fast enough to kill me or get me a ticket. I have ridden 650cc Triumphs for years and was always happy with those, I don't have to prove I have a bigger d!ck than the next guy so what would be the point of getting anything else?

Although the idea of a 1200cc America or SM appeals to me, I like the weight and extra length of my Commander because of the touring I do. It makes for a pretty smooth ride on the long hauls.

I'm still itching to see a 1,200 America/Speedmaster.If I'd get one or not is another question.

Triumph Release Party here on the 27th. Scheduled in the Hipster Central part of town and sponsored by 4 local craft beer makers. I don't really like the marketing direction Triumph is going, but I guess it is all about sales.

The extra weight of the Tbird models is exactly why I want to see a 1200 Amercia/Speedmaster.

Triumph could get around adding cruisers to the new Bonny lineup by offering a conversion package. Or would that be thinking too far out of the box?

I don't think that would fly with the cruiser crowed due to the high seat height and seat position even with a saddle replacement for the plank on them now. Forwards would be a nice option but wouldn't make them a cruiser IMO.

Not in the US...but we might like it here....lots of us rode standard Triumphs in the sixties and seventies with just a set of higher bars and sawn off exhaust pipes( look at a T140V.....export version) I'd have one, but then I'm old. Al

I rode the same bikes and I also cut and raked the frames and put a hardtail on them with a long springer front end.I have both but then again I have over 20 bikes.

Yep.Megaphones,mid-high ape hangers. I went a bit further,Peanut tank, 18 inch Apes with 3 inch dog-bone risers, 5 inch headlight, custom seat. All, including the frame, painted a lovely Turquoise Blue.Nice , but I admit the seat was amateurish .

And am of an age to have once chopped a harmless 1961 6T by the simple expedient of unbolting the rear subframe and bolting on a hard tail..... And painting it blue too..... It's probably a hanging offence in classic bike circles in the UK. Al

Yep.Greasy rags,Oil stained hands.Tired after coming from 8hrs at my apprenticeship,to work on the bike for another few hours in the shed.Hunting to find the spanner you know you have that fits that bolt.Friends calling with a couple of beers to see what's happening. 6 volt pre-unit T110 here.

That is an iron head T-110 engine in the pictures. That is a matching numbers bike though so that got restored It was recently rebuilt in these pictures. That bike also was a magnito generator bike. It has manual timing advance on the handlebars. That is my favorite bike I own. 1954 T-110.
