The problem with those cables is that the inner cable itself is just too darned short. ALL of the ones I have seen are at the extreme end of their adjustment with no room to spare. This is not a good thing. You need the extra adjustment, at least ¼" on each side. What happens when it's like this, is that when you pull your lever all the way in, you are stretching the cable a pubimeter each time, and that causes it to fail eventually. The cables were not meant to stretch.
