Well boys n girls I thought I would follow up and also thank everyone for their help. If my memory serves me, when my original battery died in 2004-ish, it was the good folks here that helped me diagnose it. Full circle
I got my new battery last Wednesday, installed it thursday after work, and man that thing started right up! It's like a new bike... I've never had it start and run so well after a storage period, and this time it was almost a whole year! I'm wondering if some of the rough running I'd experienced the last couple summers was just not enough juice. At any rate, it works great. I've got some new carb boots and vacuum caps to put on this winter. Hopefully next summer I have more time to ride
