Purchased my first Triumph this April, 2006 America had stock mufflers on it and needed a change. Read up all I could on these forums and thought TORs were what I wanted. Picked up a used pair off of eBay along with a stage 1 dynojet kit and had the dealer install it for me as well as AI removal.
Ran it all summer with the TORs and liked it... didn't love it. So started the search again this fall. Didn't want to spend a fortune and heard decent things about Emgo. Picked up a new pair of 19" slash cut for about $50 each
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Y9L...ailpage_o01_s00 and thought I would give it a whirl and install it myself this time.
I am so glad I took the chance on these, I wasn't a fan of how short they are since I like the look of long pipes but these have changed my mind. These are louder than the TORs and much deeper tone you can feel in your chest which is what I was looking for. I have a friend with a Harley Night Train with straight pipes and after comparing it, I would say it is just under the loudness/deepness of the Harley but not by much. It while riding when you put the throttle on it does sound very angry. Not completely obnoxious however closely verging on it.
Very simple and easy installation as well, mounting bracket slides and can be bolted right into the frame on the America with a pair of longer bolts.
Which bring me to my question, will this require another remap or jetting? The emgo still have baffles in them, however with the shorter length it has me overthinking. I have ridden to work and back with no issues as of yet, so hoping it is good to go, but your reassurance would be much appreciated.
I will post a video with sound soon, but I feel it won't do it justice so anyone in the Minnesota/Wisconsin area who would like to meet, feel free to PM me.
Thank you.
