Is a 2.9 million dollar fine really a good idea because a company didn't get your paperwork done as quickly as you like? Considering your comments it would seem you think Triumph had it coming.

As for being Too Big, I'm pretty sure that was not directed at Triumph. Of course there is no way GOVERNMENT could be too big or too intrusive.

Why would it not be directed at Triumph, they are a global corporation that makes 100s of millions of dollars. You act like Bloor is a poor little house mouse just trying to squeeze out a living to feed his skinny kids. They thought they were big enough to ignore a recall in the US while they took care of Europe, they thought they were big enough to ignore federal regulations and big enough to ignore a federal special request. And we think the government is too big?

2.9 million is chump change to Triumph. Corporations weigh the cost of non-compliance with profit. If fines are cheaper than compliance they will opt for the fines all the time. Possibly only a person with a MBA would know that. I take no joy in them getting tagged, but it was clearly avoidable.

Fun facts! Triumph has 1600 employees. NHTSA has 600. One of the smallest producers of vehicles in America, Triumph, makes about 60% of the total annual budget of NHTSA responsible for safety issues in vehicles, highways, and education for the entire country of over 300 million people and a few hundred million vehicles.

I am done with this thread, you guys hijacked it and I fed the trolls. I am sorry Pes.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
