LEAVE the cable connected! Pay attention instead, to how the drive housing engages those two tabs when you place the drive housing back in place.

You had to notice how the drive housing sorta fell out of place and onto the floor, then rolled right under the water heater once you had the wheel removed, or rather while you were removing it. Leaving the cable connected, the drive housing hangs freely, attached to the speedo cable.

The Haynes manual is very specific about removing the speedo cable. That comment was a word for word transcription from the Haynes manual.

In the re-assembly, they do mention about how the housing fits against the tabs.

It didn't fall under the water heater, that's upstairs. It sort of went under the Harbor Freight bike lift !!! :banghead

Since I'm 7K miles overdue on my valve check, I'm tempted to try and do a similar photo procedure guide sometime this winter. I'm just a little leery of the bits & pieces involved.
