Main Goal New target: Successful young men and women (instead of baby boomers)
You could see that happening in the last couple of years' brochures and ads. Going after the hipster crowd and the likes.
The trouble when you are trying to follow fashion, is that fashion changes every year. At this time, everyone is telling me the hipster movement is dead. So, Triumph's target group has already moved on to something else . Which means that Triumph will need to adjust its products to fit the new fashion.
I can see that happening in the clothing business, where it's easy to come up and produce new things all the time, but coming up with a new motorcycle every year to attract the new crowd is just not possible.
They should be busy trying to regain the reputation they once had. You can see Indian is trying hard to do that now. Build and renew the reputation they had. Not trying to follow fashion.
Harley worked for many years trying to establish the "badazz" attitude of their rider, so they got the sales from all the riders and wannabe badazz out there.... which of course is a constant target for funny jokes coming from other riders!
It worked for Harley, and even though we pick on their wannabe riders, they got the sales they wanted. Through reputation.
Same applies to cars, computers, etc...
Following fashion, you will be popular for a year, then it will be a 20-year slump, until fashion comes around again... For one year.
I kinda like not being mainstream, and not fashionable.
