FWIW, my current setup includes Ricor Intiminators, OEM springs & spring bushings ("washers"), PVC spacers, and the above-mentioned caps. The PVC spacers are approx. 6-7/16" port side, & 6-1/2" starboard side. With the above, the adjuster posts have approx. 5 lines showing. The spacers could be shorter in order to have less post exposed.
Bonus tip # 1: use a fresh fine-tooth metal blade on your hacksaw & a vise to hold the PVC for the initial cut.
Bonus tip # 2: use a 2" round abrasive disk & twist-lock holder in a variable speed drill to "dress" the PVC initial cut and bring the PVC spacers to final dimension.
Bonus tip # 3: use a countersink bit, fine blade, &/or file to trim any stray fibers from the dress-cut PVC ends.
