Just musing about how seemingly little traffic there is on the site, compared with 2 years back when I was last regularly here.
Are we just going through a quiet time, or have many folks moved on?
I guess the latter as people tend to change their bikes from time to time( as do I) and the trend seems to be ' bigger is better'.
But also, did Triumph lose the plot a bit with various restlyes? I'd find it hard now to buy a brand new TBA with that curiously flattened tank and with each wheel change looking, to me, worse than the one before...
But then I'm old.......perhaps others love the later looks more

I own an '07 and have a preference for the older tank but I could live with the newer one if I had to, gotta say though I dont mind the smaller fat wheel on the america. Not sure if bigger is better, certainly not for me. I wasnt here two years ago so I dont know if its quieter here. And I'm old too

Just been looking at what's currently for sale UK....guess I can live with the tank(used to have a black 010 tba which had that) but I prefer em with spokes and ideally the later breather mod...which means strengthened starter gear.
Did also run a nice blue and white one with earlier tank and ' cart wheels'....last of the carbs...that was nice...I will keep looking though.

Hahaha! Good one Wade.

"Did also run a nice blue and white one with earlier tank and ' cart wheels'....last of the carbs...that was nice...I will keep looking though."

That's the one I've got, with the smaller tank but I must say the extra 3 litres in the newer tank would be handy at times.I've sat on a 2013 model and didn't like it as much as mine but maybe that's just getting used to it.I don't like the new speedo either but all in all if I was buying a new bike I'm stick with Triumph.Mine should be fine for me into the distant future though hopefully.

I'm half way home from the dealers who are about to rebuild my Thunderbird engine.....guess what they lent me?
Sadly ,not a TBA but a Scrambler with 39 miles on the clock.
Feels like I'm on a skateboard compared to the America......but fun, though I wouldn't like to do distances on one.

It always tends to slow down a bit around here in the summer. My guess is people are busy either with chores or riding ? But yes I do think that when they started making these bikes look more jap then Brit they kinda lost a little bit of that soul that the earlier models have. ?? Also it seems there have been no real changes in the whole Triumph line in some time . My local stealership quit selling the brand because , as he put it, they are not keeping up with the other brands in innovation?

I think some have moved on but even when some here buy a different Triumph model they stay here. I wrecked my Red 02 TBA in 09 and got a Thunderbird 1600 in 2010. I still hangout here more than the Thunderbird site.

I actually like the bigger tank from 07 on (I think I might be the only one)because it holds more fuel and there are no ugly seams at the bottom to try and cover up. Plus have you all sat on a newer BA? I sat on a 2014 two tone red one at my dealer and was amazed by the comfort. The bars are different and come back to you and the seat is tons more comfortable and plus floor boards are standard. It was way more comfortable than my 02. I hate to say it but I think he fact that Bonnevilles are being assembled in Thailand has hurt sales some in America. I would not hesitate to get a new America though. I especially like the new fat front tire.

Canadiuns have superfluous ewes and hip boots?I thought that was a N.Z. thing?Although Billy Connelly reckoned the Scots were known for it.

Did they fit TORs on the Scrambler? That's one of the sweetest sound I've heard. To me, it just hits the perfect note. I had a huge smile when I was riding one with TORs. They were singing!

As most of you know, I sold my much loved and ridden 02 BA to finance the Indian. (And I'm always gonna tell people how great the BA was. 50,000 miles and nothing changed but the oil and plugs. Totally reliable.)And I do go over to the new Indian site. But youse guys are my friends (heaven help ya). The guys on the Indian site are a "different" kind of animal, who seem to have waaaay more money than I'll ever have. Not much in common with them. (I'm not calling you bums POOR, just more of a regular fella like myself) Of course, I still have my "antique" Triumph, so I've not totally left the fold. And my boy has a BA, with the new tank, which he really likes a lot. If I had lots of extra money, I kind of would like to have a scrambler or a T100 in the stable, just to throw around town. Still, I'm always surprised that I have never seen more BAs, and it's "poorer" cousin, The Speedmaster, (), around the streets. Still one of the best looking bikes around!

What surprises me is the low low resale on the Triumph cruisers, the classic line holds up real well but the cruisers don't have much of a following. I guess it's the same with a Harley, the Cruisers hold up but you can't sell a Sporty for peanuts. Getting locked into a catagory is hard on a manufacturer, not many think Triumph for a cruiser even though they are a great bike.

Oddly, I reckon that in UK TBA's hold their value well....certainly compared with the jap opposition, though not so well as Sportsters do.Sportys rarely if ever drop below £3K.....but then neither do TBA's for that matter.

Yes you might be unanimous with yourself with your new tank amore! Gotta agree that a larger tank would be nice on long trips. Hate having to fill up every 150 miles, or 170 if I'm not out West.

Fat front tires look good, but make the bike wallow like a pig. I finally wore out Vera's front 130 Kenda. She is much more lithe now. And with her new chain kit, (February 9, 2015) she handles like a dream even though that chain kit has 8,000 miles on it now.

A little tongue in cheek, but the new tanks at least allow one to change out the relays without removing the tank!

Give us back the tank indents and the spokes!

I dunno guys, With all that went on this year (traveling pretty much every week for the job, & got hitched in May, in June the AC went out in the house...took a week to get the thing replaced & I missed the Great River rally) I haven't had a lotta time to hang out on the forum myself. Still lurk around & comment when the mood hits me tho... This Spring got the 24K service done, new sprockets & chain, new Steering head bearings (AllBalls upgrade from stock), progressive fork springs, & handlebar weights & am really lovin how my 07 BA runs & rides....It's like having a whole new bike.

It is as the title suggests; inevitable. It's bound to happen as it usually does at some point, even if it is only at the end. It's gonna happen. So get use to it.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe
