Sorry Stephen, but other than the thought that they're both vertical(or parallel) twin engines, I can at least see a NUMBER of differences between this older model Honda's engine and that of the coming new Triumph Bonneville's, and besides the thought you brought up regarding the different valve covers...the differences in THIS regard of course being the result of the Honda being a SOHC design and the new Triumph being a DOHC design.

And once again, NOT to mention all those OTHER differences I've already mentioned to ya in this thread, such as the cylinder head finning on the Honda being flat sided, and whereas in true Triumph twin tradition the new Triumph cylinder heads being triangulated out, OR and as I also mentioned earlier, the bottom end cases looking quite a bit different from each other.

AND, the thought that the timing side bottom end cases of the new Triumph have the classic Triumph "heart-shaped" cases TOO!

Nope, sorry Stephen, but just like I kidded Ian back before HE had his little epiphany and has now apparently admitted HE now sees many a classic 1960s Triumph engine styling cue on these soon to come offerings by Mr. Bloor's boys and when I told Ian that he maybe needs to go have his eyesight checked, perhaps it's time you to go visit YOUR friendly neighborhood optometrist TOO!

(...notice if you will the lack of the superfluous letter 'u' in the word 'neighborhood' here, ol' buddy)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
