Well I got tired of trying to keep my Triumph bags in shape, I broke down and ordered Tsukaya Strong Bags on 7-5-15, Lets see how long it takes to get them. I have a Red and Silver America so I will paint the bags to match, I will be thinking about a two tone paint design trying to minimize the size of these bags on the bike. I'm a bit worried the big size will dwarf the bike.

Those bags fit so well that they can actually enhance the look of the bike

Mike, the fit on the America/Speedy sets the bags just behind the shocks and the angle of the bag is the same as the angle of the shock. Hence no need for a cut out.

My bags arrived Via UPS today, 8-10-15, well within the delivery window I was given at the time of purchase. I could not be more pleased with my purchase, The product is better than I had dared hoped. The mounting hardware is beautiful along with the latches and hinges, The mounting surface of the bags is almost a half inch thick. I ordered the lower cost ABS bags after reading the site write up,and I'm glad I did. The biggest problem I have is matching the red paint on my 02 TBA, the dealer says no can do and I will not pay Color Rite $300 for their kit. I work part time at a Collision shop and we WILL find a match at a reasonable price or I will repaint the whole bike British Racing Green and Cream.

British Racing Green and Cream, that's a beautiful combo, done right. But I can get the color codes for a 63 Tiger and your color codes are a secret? Something wonky there.

Oh Ive got the codes thanks to the Tech Vault, the problem is the codes are for a paint company that nobody here ever heard of,Schoch. No Dupont, Sikens or any other local brands so far. I will keep working on it, our color match computer at work came up dry but we might just get it close and then eye ball the blend mix.

Hard Bag paint update, Grrrrr. The only supplier for Cardinal Red is RS paint supply in England, they are reasonable price but the shipping cost is crazy. I'm still trying to mix my own paint but so far no luck. I will do alot of trying before I spend $349 for a few pints of paint.LOL

At that price if I had the ability and access to the proper equipment I would paint it myself. The removal and preparation would be more time consuming but if you have the ability I believe it would be more satisfying. Maybe wait until winter to start the project so you don't lose any riding time.

britironrider, The high cost is just for the materials,I'm a painter and the labor will be done by me. That is why I'm upset. All I'm doing is painting my new Strong Hard Bags to match the existing color on the bike, The 02 Cardinal Red is a 3 stage paint, what we would call a Candy color and is very hard to match.

I guess I should clarify my post. I would opt to paint the whole bike thus eliminating the need to match paint colors. What ever you decide to do please post pictures. Oh yeah the green would be my choice of color and would look awesome.

ladisney, Thanks for your post but I already got the code from our own tech vault, the problem is the paint was made by a company whose codes do not work with any Stateside manufactures.

Ok, I quit whining and ordered the correct paint from R+s paint in Great Britian. Don't know how long it will take to get here but it's on it's way.

My paint arrived in a timely fashion from R+S paint in England,at a reasonable price I might add.(for Red). The paint is water based !! so there will be a learning curve for me. Ok I tested the color on a small piece of scrap and all is good.... I shot the base white and the Red over the top,all is good although it is slow drying probably due to the high humidity today. This morning I shot the Clear Coat over the Red and all is good. I will wait a day then color sand and buff, In a few days I will post pics of the finished project if I can get my wife to post the pics for me. I can do most anything, but this electronic stuff is non intuitive.

Yes, The job came out very nice, I also adapted an old harley Bat Wing fairing and painted it to match, Red and Silver. As I expected the bags looked quite large on the bike so I added a single chrome strip about 4 inches from the bottom and across the side of the bags, that worked real well. I had my wife take pictures but they are not loaded on the computer yet, it's hard to get good help. I,m working on another project now so the job kind of slipped my mind. I'm building a cafe racer out of an old Suzy T 250 2 stroke with the high pipe option.

Tell your wife I said Please-please-please. I just got to see the end of the story. Hee Hee.

I am trying to figure out what bags to get for my 05 America. I love the Green, but your story has me spooked. I am not a painter. I would either have to have the paint put in a shaker or have it done. I do have a friend that owns a collision repair shop.

Leaning towards the bubble bags at the moment, but not sure.

I am far from making a purchase.

I am open to suggestions. What I want is simple.

Hard Bags-Lockable-stylish.

I got a new set of Triumph bags that came with my 05.
I am going to e-bay them to offset the cost of new bags. Of course if anyone on BA.com is interested I will make you a deal. I will list them here first.

They are pretty, but I want something more functional.

Mr. Indiana, I did not mean to spook you, the Tsukaya bags are very nice and I would recommend them. I had trouble getting the Cardinal Red paint but that was not the bags fault. There is a picture of a black bike in this thread with the bags installed to give you an idea how they look. Also the Tsukaya sales site has a whole bunch of pics of the bags on different bikes including Triumph's.

No pictures on the way,but really it's just like the other bikes with these bags only Red. Well I did put a small chrome strip down the side of the bag just to add some interest to the flat large sides. I came close to Triking the America this winter but I did my 1200 Sportster instead, I was worried about torque with the Triumph. I did the Sporty with the DNA axle kit and then built a downsized model A truck bed with the passenger seat half in the box for the wife. Now that is something special and did quite well at the 1st indoor bike show of the year. Turns out the Triumph would of had plenty of power as you really can't even feel the added weight on the Sporty, maybe next year I will do a Trike kit on the Triumph so I have a full size travel Trike. Regards, TM2. P.S. I still like your Green bike better than my Red one.
