This is a scary and sobering topic. As a Steelers fan, Big Ben's impromptu 6 wheel sculpture was a recent reminder. A Cycle magazine article from back in the 70's has been saving
my life for over 30 years, It was called "The Invisible Man"
, the title says it all, ride as if they can't see you. I know many of us cover the front brake with a finger or two in tight spots, but covering the horn with your thumb helps
too. That being said, the biggest danger to us often comes from inside our head in the form of stupid decisions. Back in '83, too many pints of Abbott Ale caused a game of ground/sky/ground and left me with a left leg in over 50 pieces below the knee. It took 11 months to heal and it is now an inch and a half shorter than the right leg, so I have a reminder every other step. Now the rule is one drink and I'm
parked for the day. Good luck out there, my fellow moto locos, we're all in this together.

I was taking the sharper curves at 25 to 30 mph, and enjoying the challenge. I approached a rather sharp curve to the right, and laid the bike smoothly into a healthy lean to the right, when all I seen was FORD,and the center of the truck in my lane.

Had a similar thing last evening. Entered a fairly open left hand sweeper, watched a white sedan coming from the opposite direction at what seemed a "higher than normal" rate of speed, which got me thinking. As he got deeper into the long corner he began drifting across the centreline. He was probably halfway into my lane when we passed. I saw the look of oh oh! on his early 20 something face through the driver's side window. I had enough warning of evasion to get over into the right wheel track and slow down a bit. The obligatory adrenaline rush hit me 1/2 mile later .

Ride aware, but don't forget to enjoy yourselves
