This local story reminded me of Ian's loss a few years ago. The cop took down a section of fence between his yard and the dog's yard. Some time later, the dog came through while the cop's family was outside. The cop claims the dog was aggressive, so he herds his family into the pool, then goes inside retrieves his gun and shoots the dog. Not a Shepherd, not a Pit - a Basset Hound. C'mon, if you really think your family is in danger, wouldn't you put your family in the house? Then call the neighbor? After all, the dog came into his yard because HE took down the fence that separated the yards! Anybody ever seen an aggressive Basset hound? Pisses me off! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Justice-4-Goose/113096622357391

Sounds like a cop abusing his authority and flaunting his Teflon status as a member of the special community. When the police officer, the prosecutor and the judge all get their paycheck at the same window, it's hard for common folk to receive the justice they are due.

My three year old dog is part Bassett and part Blue heeler. She wants to play with and lick everyone she sees. Bailey and I have seen plenty of pure blooded Bassets at the dog park and none have had a bad disposition. I'm sure his kids in the pool loved to see him shoot a dog also. I hope the dog owner sues the jerk.

Yeah, a real tough guy. Shoot a dog in front of your 3 & 7 year olds. I'm waiting on him to be fined for not having a complete fence around his pool. That's the law. I suppose if the neighbor's kid fell into the pool, he'd have an excuse for that too - though parents of drowned children are routinely arrested here (Unfortunately, that happens at least once each year).

OR, at the very least, just give a cop like that only one bullet and make him KEEP that one bullet in his shirt pocket!
(...Yep...Andy always knew what he was doin', alright!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
