This local story reminded me of Ian's loss a few years ago.
The cop took down a section of fence between his yard and the dog's yard. Some time later, the dog came through while the cop's family was outside. The cop claims the dog was aggressive, so he herds his family into the pool, then goes inside retrieves his gun and shoots the dog. Not a Shepherd, not a Pit - a Basset Hound. C'mon, if you really think your family is in danger, wouldn't you put your family in the house? Then call the neighbor? After all, the dog came into his yard because HE took down the fence that separated the yards!
