The bottom line is with so many fooling with their smart phones, putting on make-up, people stoned and others with evil attitudes, driving on the freeway, I'm not going to start lane splitting, if for no other reason, basic survival. IIRC, Our beloved Friar, bought it on a Cali freeway, was he lane splitting or just going with the flow of traffic? I do not remember ever reading the details of his demise on here.
