Ahh man, I just stopped in to get an e-mail for Chy and saw this post.
Let me put any concern to rest, that I was somehow involved in some unforeseen accident. Facts remain, it was totally preventable and avoidable for most people my age.
Having said that. I was keenly reminded that I am not bulletproof and I still generate bruises and my head remains the toughest point on my body.
I am certain I did not bend the bail spear, but I did bend the passenger "OS Handle" which tried impaling itself on the massive thigh muscle this old body still sports!
All kidding aside, not my greatest moment in choices and lesson learned. Came to close on this one. I saw the bale spike coming for my head and was able to dodge it enough were the impact occurred on the back of side of my head rather than impaling me. When I stopped I expected that I had the spear in my head and was wondering why I was still conscious to be aware of my last moments of life skewered to bale spear. Fortunately that was not the end of that tune.
I couldn't move for a number of minutes so I called my wife on the cell phone which was in reach in my pocket (keep this in mind always keep it close) My wife came out calling "where are you?" Then the precious words that I have heard on more than one occasion..."Edward, what did you do!" Only two people call me Edward, my Mom and my wife.
Worst part of it, I caught some bug in the ER that has had me bed ridden longer than the misfortune with the four wheeler!
