So I could be wrong, but it seems that my used (new to me) bike leans a bit much when on its side stand. I have looked at the stand and where it attaches to the frame and it doesn't appear to have any signs of being bent or anything. When I got it inspected the shop tech said he thought it leaned over a bit much and asked me if it had been forced over that way somehow or if the stand was bent. I don't think I would try to bend it so the bike stood up a little bit more, and then one day find it on the ground from the dern thing snapping because I bent the stand. Anybody else feel that way? Anybody modified one in any way?

Tim, what year is the bike? It's possible someone has added extended fork caps, then raised the triple tree. Have a close inspection of the forks to see if there's any telltale signs they have been raised

Mine leans a bit more than I would like. I owned an 08 Bonneville before getting my 09 America. Had both for over 1 year before selling the Bonnie. The Bonneville stood noticeably more upright than the America. I purchased both new from the dealer so I knew that a previous owner had not made any modifications. Just the nature of the beast I guess. I do park with the handlebar pointed to the right, seems to stand slightly more upright than when pointed to the left. Maybe I'm fooling myself about that Had thought about adding a spacer of some sort (washers?) to the bottom of the kickstand but waited a bit and that urge passed.
09 America, some modifications

I've lowered my bike about 40mm and I was worried the sidestand would be too short. But it turned out to be quite alright. Actually better than before!

I shortened the shocks on on a bike for my wife and had to have the stand shortened about the same amount. Fortunately, my neighbor is a precision welder by trade. It's impossible to tell it was done.
As long as you've still got plenty of weight on the tires, you should be okay. If the ratio changes and you get more of the bike's weight on the stand, you could have troubles.

Mine leans a fair way to on level ground. If I park it with the ground sloping even slightly away from the stand it feels like it might tip over, but it has'nt and proberly never will, just feels that way, I think yours is normal
