I happened to notice on the window of a local independent bike shop a sign stating that having your new bike serviced outside dealer was fine as long as done by certified mechanic. I went in and asked and they stood by this. Quote for 1000k service on my 2015 America was 300 with some discount at the dealers. Being a certified mechanic I done this myself and will continue to do so. This is my third America so no stranger to them. The two previous were used so did all the work on them myself including valve shims.
If you are a mechanic down under can save yourself a heap and being a age pensioner every dollar I can keep in my own pocket is important and hey! I have all day to tinker about! Cheers

Do document every service (you know, details for any future reference) and keep receipts for parts, materials & such.

09 America, some modifications

Congratulations on the new bike Kent? Fortunately as you know since this is your third America, these engines are pretty bulletproof and don't need many repairs other than service. I think Moe has around 100K on the odometer on one of his.
