We all know that the TBS front hub is a direct swap for the Speedy. There has been some suggestion that the Tiger hub is as well, it is not. I recently acquired a TBS hub, thanks Ryk, and was looking for a 2.5 x 19 hoop to lace it to. Buchanans wants in the neighborhood of $248 for one . So to that end I have been searching for a used Tiger hoop knowing that others have gone that route. Well I scored a complete 2002 Tiger front rim for $135. I figured what the heck, at the least I saved $110 over a new hoop. There is also the possibility of being able to reuse the spokes, and at best the whole rim fits. Well I received the rim today. I took some measurements and the TBS hub is roughly a 1/2 wider than the Tiger hub. Meaning that the rotors would be closer together and the calipers would not line up and that there would be roughly a 1/4 inch gap on each side between the forks and the hub. The bearings are also different with the Tiger having a smaller diameter axle. Now the bearings could be swapped out but the inner spacer would present a problem. I suppose if one were inclined you could machine a new inner hub spacer, two spacers to take up the space between the forks and spacers for the caliper mounts. So it could be made to work but is NOT a direct swap.
