Please take this little bit of constructive criticism as coaching and not as anything negative. You are close, and I wouldn't offer this advice to someone who isn't deserving to hear it. Most aren't as close as you are.

Take your playing to the next level by allowing the notes to speak with more inflection, sustain, vibrato, and phrasing. Let each passage speak from the heart. Ride deep in the pocket, allowing the rhythm section to pull you down the road...don't arrive anywhere before they do. Great lead guitar playing is like replacing vocals with steel strings. Allow the guitar to speak with its own consonants and vowels, with letters/notes that combine to say something and to emit passion that shares feelings. Allow the living passion of its voice to be the center of your playing, don't be satisfied with the hopscotch game of landing in the proper blocks.

Here's a different analogy...when a person gives a speech in public, they either speak from the heart like they truly believe and are living every word that they are conveying, or they speak like they are reading words on a piece of paper that someone else has written for them. Own each note you play and deliver it with authority. Your playing will seem more soulful rather than like an automated voice if you know what I mean. Please don't take any of that negatively...you do a really good job.

i understand exactly what your saying and i'm trying to get there although is hard to "tame" it.I'm taking lessons for 3 months now as i'm trying to go..(i hope).. to the next level....I'm working on it!...
