Was really looking forward to riding my 2005 America to work tonight, but when I went to push her out of the garage, a pretty good sized puddle of oil had gathered underneath. I had pulled the left side cover off to inspect my starter gear boss repair, (which was good), re-installed side cover, replaced engine oil filter (Bosch 3300), and rode the bike about 30 miles, then parked it until tonight. Looking underneath, there's oil dripping from the new oil filter. I removed the filter, nothing unusual....Only one o-ring, and no damage apparent to the filter. Off to Autozone for another oil filter, installed it, replenished oil, started her up, no apparent leaks....Went to eat dinner, came back down, considerable amount of oil accumulated..again, from the oil filter. Very frustrated at this point... I know it's not coming from the side cover, as the bike leans that way on the stand, and it is dry. Just don't get it....drain plug very tight, oil filter seating and tight, but still a consistent leak from oil filter....

Sure it isn't the neutral switch and just looks like the filter?

The neutral switch does sound like the first place to check with oil present and it's not coming from the filter. Somebody else had one crap out a couple of years ago and posted about it, I seem to remember.

Only if the neutral switch is about 4" in diameter and says "Bosch 3300" on it....the oil is dripping from the oil filter at this point....2 brand new ones in a row...

I got that but the switch is right there and on the stand the oil could drip down the filter. If you don't want help, don't ask.

Is it possible the replacement filter design has changed any? A bit of discussion of changed shapes over on Trat recently. Here is a link about NAPA branded filters. But I'm sure many name brands are from the same source, just with different labels.

I always hold the new filter gasket up to the old one just to make sure they have the same gasket size, just in case the robots at the factory were trippin' on peyote.
If the threads spin good and cinch up to the case, that part is OK.

I blew 80 psi oil all over a Case loader for that reason, now I check.

I commented on that thread. I just changed my oil on March 21st with a Purolator PL14612 that I bought from my local Meijer store and have had no problems. That thread did make me curious though so this past weekend I inspected all of the Purolator Pl14612s and Pl14610s that they had on the shelf. All of the PL14612s were identical and all of the Pl14610s were Identical. The Pl14610s were concave, the Pl14612s were flat. Here is a pic I took at the store. Top is A Mobil 1 M-108, bottom left is the PL14610 and bottom right is the PL14612.

I exclusively use the Purolator Pl14612 and apart from being the highest rated filter available, no leaks or issues ever.

I did as well until the last change. Had the same issue with two pl14612 as JD did. Changed to Bosh. No problem. Now Mark had issues with Bosh. Basically every thing is made in China and every thing sucks azz

Was indeed the filter. Took the 2 new Bosch 3300's back to Autozone and exchanged them for a Fram equivalent, and no leaks noted. I noticed the Bosch was bottoming out, but would not turn the additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn to crush the o-ring...Seems they have shortened the thread travel to where it bottoms out before the seal crushes...When I felt the Fram turn the additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn, I knew that was the problem...SOOOO Don't purchase the Bosch 3300 anymore, they have changed the design!
And by the way, your (or MY) head will fit entirely underneath the bike with it on the sidestand! At least I'm losing weight SOMEWHERE

Interesting about the Bosch though, after two filters that would be a confusing diagnostic. Maybe our exalted Administrator will duly note the issue in the filter section of the tech vault.

If I remember correctly the last OEM Triumph oil filter I installed was manufactured by Wix.

Just want to chime in. I have been frustrated by the Bosch 3300. I removed a 3300 that was installed 2 years ago, the new 3300 bottomed out as previous poster noted. The old filter is concave and the new is flat. I called bosch and their "technical" person was of no help saying that he knows of no change to the design and it is not specified for a motorcycle, so basically he wanted nothing to do with me. I will avoid Bosch in the future because of this guy's attitude alone!
