Got my clutch done today so I started the bike up. to see how it would run with the ProCom on it and it is dieing out when I put the choke in. I know it was warmed up the oil that got pipes was burning pretty good. I tried adjust the idle up but my choke out idle would be at 3 thousand RMP's if that sounds right fine but that seemed high to me any ideas.

Porcoms are cold natured. Try the different settings with the little screw driver till you find something that works for you. 7 is a popular setting

7 was close for me, but I had to settle for 6 and it has a cold start special procedure. Half choke, tiny bit of throttle, flaps half down, headlight on dim, ect., etc.

Was a PITA to tune. That other igniter, can't remember the name, has just two settings. Wide a$$ open and normal. Sounds better.

I thought the dial was set to your old CDI why would need to be changed?

Like Mike, said, just try it. Maybe start with 7 and try 6. You can turn the dial from under the tank with a light and wee screwdriver and reading glasses. Just have the bike OFF when you change positions.

I played with the idle today and it seemed to be fine. Put a few miles on stopping at stop signs and it never stalled once. The next project will be to try loading a map after I take it for a nice long ride.

My Procom is set at 6 as well. I think I read somewhere in my research that 6 matched the stock number for the 790s and 7 was for the 865s. The other settings were for the various incarnations of the 360 degree motors. My bike was cold blooded before the Procom so it's hard for me to tell/remember if the Procom is anymore cold natured. I have found that my bike idles best at around 1100-1150 rpms, having a Speedmaster I have the tachometer so it's easy to monitor.

2006 865 Neon Blue/Jet Black Speedmaster,790cams, TTP Stage 2 Firestarter, Epco Exhaust with 10.25" Samson Vrod baffles, UNI pods with 40 pilots, 150 mains,Thruxton needles, 3 turns out.
