Just been emailed by my dealer....the new Bonneville range is launched! 5 new models but, alas, no America type version. The others look good though ...no prices but I'll be contacting to ask about these. Watch this space! Al

I just sent an e-mail to the main Aussie dealer .They quickly replied and said they'd forward the mail to head office U.K. but said there was nothing they knew of in the works for a 1,200 America/Speedmaster! Actually my '07 America does all I need but a 1,200cc option would be nice. There's room in my garage for two bikes.Oh well to quote Vera Lynn," Que Sera Sera"

If you need a bigger displacement liquid-cooled cruiser, you could always get a 69 CI Indian Scout. Just sayin'...

Thanks for the suggestion but I saw one in the flesh, and it was ok, but I wasn't too impressed.Anyway,it doesn't have Triumph on the tank.Although the T-bird isn't really my thing,I'd definitely have one in preference to a Scout.

I don't think they are going to get below the Sportsters price, they might be about the same if the prices of the new Bonneville's are any indication. Current retail prices are: Bonneville $12,490 ($12,990 two-tone), T100 (13,490, T100 A2 $14,250 and T100 SE $14,990.
Sportsters are: Superlow $8,499 Iron 883 $8,849 1200 Custom $10,889 Seventy Two $11,099
Way below the new Bonnies.
http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/sportster.html
And to add more perspective the Indian Scout is between $10,999-11,999.
http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/motorcycles
Uh...maybe somebody in marketing should have checked the competition's prices before putting a sticker on the new Triumphs. But it's a moot point, like I said looks like there are no immediate plans for an America/Speedmaster with the new 1200 engine in the near future. Hopefully maybe in 2017.

Offer a T120 with mag wheels & I'm in.
That said, I'm keeping my 07 SM 865/270.

The Scout may be a nice bike but to me it's just another, (Ho Hum), HD copy, (yawn), V-twin.
I like having a bike that's just a little bit different than every other cruiser in town.

Give me a right leg that bends as it should, and I'd be more than satisfied with the new T120.Maybe put another seat on it if the stock one is as uncomfortable as it looks. I do LOVE my America though..

Bring it On! On condition they use the water cooling to lessen the awful racket I get from my Thunderbird......exhaust cam bobweights rattling around like marbles in an ashtray........if Japs can produce water cooler bikes which don't make such a top end cacophony, then why do we have to put up with this? And make it lighter than the t'bird please.... Mine feels like its cast out of lead. If they can do this, I'll be first in the queue for one. Al
Like I keep saying Al,This stuff's done purposely in homage to the Triumphs of old! When my bike gets hot enough I swear I can hear the top end rattle of the ghosts of the tappets from my previous Triumphs!

Since Indian made a V-twin before HD, who is a copy of who?

I think there was a bike called Autocar in 1902 that used a V twin, if I am not mistaken that was the first. By your logic HD and Indian must have copied them.I could be wrong, been a long time since I read up on that stuff.

I looked it up and it was Percepia with the V twin in 1902, my mistake.

Can't find the page I looked it up on last time but here is a Wiki page with it pictured. Princeps I had the name wrong too. The Wiki page does mention Autocar though, I thought they had something to do with it.

So, all V twins are Autocar clones? In any event, Indian was making V-twins before HD, so let's put that "Indian copied HD" BS to rest. Indian was making motorcycles, and v-twin engines, before Harley.

I sold my T110 for a 1971 Tiger. The worst bike I've ever owned. The oil in the frame could have been a good idea if they hadn't made the bike so tall. The "breadbasket"tank and as you say the "tinware" and poor quality control was a death blow to Triumph. They discounted them very heavily here, but people still bought the 650 Yamahas and 750 Hondas in preference. The Z1 900 Kawasakis came in 1972 and they sold like hot cakes too.
I bought a brand new blue/white '71 Trophy and loved it. I had zero leaks, zero problems with the Lucas electrics. I thought the oil in the frame was a great idea and had no problem with the height. I rode the heck out of that thing all over western Pa. rain or shine. It was my first Triumph and second bike coming off a Yamaha RD350. I thought I was uber cool.

.... Say what you want but in todays market Harley owns the cruiser market and most company"s are desperate to get a piece of the V-twin market. Thank God Triumph is content to go with its own heritage. Indian is doing just fine and Victory is building it's own nitch now, and I think Victory will do just fine now that it;s not trying to clone Harley, but is heading off in it's own direction as a American performance brand. There is room for all manufactures, but having a history helps.

I don't know why everyone gets so hung up on CCs. I rode 650cc twins for many years and was perfectly happy with them. I bumped the compression up to 10.5:1 and just tuned it and rode. I now have a 790cc twin that I am happy with and building an 865cc chopper I am sure I will also be happy with. I have crossed multiple states loaded down with gear no problem. North east PA to Yellowstone park in 36hrs on a 1966 TR6C for one trip.
I don't necessarily agree more is better but that's just America. Where else in the world can you buy a stock out the dealer door 700hp car like the Dodge Charger or Challenger Hellcat?

More is better! I rode a Bonneville 40 years ago from Philly to Florida and from Philly to Sturgis. Riding the America to Dwights house from Texas is about the same. The pain now vs. then? More is better. I had a VW beatle for my first car later I had a GTO, Thunderbird, Catalina, Firebird, Sedan DeVille. Never got another bug, More it better.

Did Kansas City to Key West in the spring of 1970 on a Bonnie. "The pain now vs. then? More is better."

Mine had a small rocker cover leaks and a primary cover leak [more like "weeps" than leaks] soon after purchase as I remember. No electrical problems .It was in too tall for me though. I got a 1976 Bonnie 750 later .That was a GREAT bike!I wish I still had it and the T110 ,but I'd pass on that '71 Tiger.

Quality control was bad by then and some were great bikes and others leaked badly and had mechanical issues. I have 2 72s and one has been great the other not so much.(Both 120V bikes)

Yep.If they'd been all put together properly it would have made a difference I'm sure .There were lots of Q.C. problems with the '71s here. It was too tall for me.They reduced the height the next year I believe.
