They did arrive!
The problem was in Hong Kong. We had over 7 hours waiting for our next flight, when the nice clerk at China Airlines moved us to an earlier flight instead. Even after keying in all the info for about 15 minutes, our bags still took the later flight and arrive past midnight.
They called us as soon as they saw our bags, and since we were sleeping in the area, it was easy to pick our luggage.
