I just picked up a Roadster screen and would like to put it on my 13 BA. The instructions say the lower mounting brackets are attached to the top of the lower yoke. My lower yoke is threaded on the bottom, but, it is not drilled all the way through and the bracket does not look like it will fit if attached to the bottom. Anyone have experience mounting one of these?

Mark, The brackets for lower support on the roadster screen bolt to the top of the lower yoke just beside and a bit behind the headlamp mount. Mine are drilled through though (from the previous owner). I imagine that a trip to the local hardware for the right length metric bolt (cant say what size that might be tho & the shop manual doesn't say either...best guess is its an M12 or M13) would be all you need to fit the brackets.

Good luck & ride easy

Thanks. Any advise on the best way to drill through the yoke? Mine are threaded from the bottom, but, there is not a hole all the way through.

what year was the screen and brackets made for? My 07 SM had the holes on the lower tree already drilled out for the summer screen brackets, not sure if they are the same or not. I don't think they would have made the screen and expect you to have to drill it out, you sure there is no bolt in there already that just needs to be removed?

You need to cross reference part numbers. The is no way you should have to drill your tree if you have the correct factory part for the year/model intended. Triumph s lawyers would shut that down for one, from the liability angle.

The yoke is not drilled trough. I agree with you Ryk, I do NOT want to start drilling. I have a call in to the dealer to cross reference the part #s. This screen came off of an 09 Speedmaster and everything fits but the lower brackets.

just looked at some clamps on Ebay, the 2009 has the holes pre-drilled in the tree, the 2013's do not.

I spent half an hour on the phone with the dealer. The part # for the 09 speedmaster and the 13 America is the same. He was stumped. I am going to call another dealer tomorrow to see if they have any ideas. FRUSTRATING.

After talking to three different dealers, Two said they don't have a clue and one in South Houston said drill the yoke, not a problem. I am looking for any advise you might have. I hate to see this screen go to waist.

If the blind holes are in the right place for the mounting brackets, and the right diameter for the attach bolts, go to the hardware store and get the drill bit you need and punch it through. Or better yet, get the dealer who sold you the screen to do it.

This screen is a freebie off of my brothers Speedmaster. If I had bought this from a dealer you can bet I would be raising hell. Looks like I might have to drill if I want to mount it.

I drilled out the riser holes from 10mm to 1/2" on the top plate of my tree, so I could use the risers I wanted to. Used trees are in abundance from the bike part junkers on EBay, if it ever comes to that for you.

That Roadster screen will most likely cause buffeting around your head (helmet), just so you know. Many variables exist concerning this statement such as your height, foot and leg position, type of helmet, seating position etc, but generally, unless you add lowers to the equation the outcome can be less than desirable. That said, you might luck out and have no issues whatsoever. Here's hoping it all works out.

Don't know much more than this:
Given the lower tree is not through drilled, and that they are threaded, why not use not 'through bolts' but bolts with matching thread pitch? The lower brackets won't care.

Keith nails it about screens. If you do install the screen, you might consider lower deflectors as well.

Moe, the brackets won't fit on the bottom of the tree. I went ahead and drilled the hole through and it mounted right up. Now I need to wait on this weather to clear (I guess someone forgot to tell this latest front that this is Texas) to try it out. If I don't like it, off it comes and I will put my Memphis Shades Hell Cat back on. I know I can live with that one. Thanks for the heads up Keith.
