Indian is supposed to formally announce the 2016 Dark Horse this coming Friday but this article leaked the photos to the public.

It's basically a stripped-down Chief Classic with cast wheels and black on black almost everywhere. MSRP is rumored to be $17K.

Indian Dark Horse Article

Sorry, couldn't get the pics to post.

That thing sucks! Why does every motorcycle company feel the need to do a blacked out version? Especially Indian? Take one of the best looking power plants out there right now, and make it blend in with everything else? The Chief is different because of all the embellishments and shiny bits and they decide to hide it all behind the same boring flat black that you can find on every showroom of every bike dealer right now? wtf

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I agree Dave, if you want a rat bobber don't drop 20K. Buy and old inline four and three rattle cans of flat black.

I also agree.
To me the whole black-out theme has been overdone for too long. With all the beautiful custom color schemes we've seen for the new Indians I can't imagine why someone would want an all-black one.

But you know there are people that will be all over it. Just sayin'...

I thought is was ok. I wouldn't buy one, though, cause I like colors. Still, I think it particularly offends Dave's "chromey disposition".
By the way, Dave, any progress on that plan to chrome the wife? Depending on what it would cost, I'd think about doing the same.

As most of you know i like "black" but i think this one is to black and the bits of chrome they left are in the wrong places, there is no balance to the bike at all. I supprised that 111 is only rated at 73hp?

I believe it's been dyno'ed with 73 HP+ at the rear wheel. Anyways, the 111 is all about the torque. Huge torque for an air-cooled engine that size.

I love it!... Actually love all the new Indians....Took a test ride on a Vintage a few months ago, have absolutely nothing bad to say, handled great, suspension was phenomenal, plenty of power, and loved looking out over that big chrome headlight...you could throw some white walls on the Darkhorse for a lil contrast.
Getting ready to put some WWWs on my speedy here in a bit

Yep.
Fine if you want black, that's ok, but not for me.All the companies wouldn't be making them if they didn't sell I suppose, but I'm not overawed with the blacked out deal.Matt blue, red,Green Sand colour maybe.

Would love to see this one in person. It does look a little overdone, but I am thinking it might look really cool when you see it on the floor or on the street.

I didn't like the new Scout until I saw it in person. In red.

I definetely like the Indian, not necessarily a fan of the total black. I also like the fact that the Indian dealer located near Ft Hood is the new place to buy Harleys. They have taken in so many as trades they look like a Harley dealer.

FWIW, I was in my Indian dealer yesterday and walked past the new Dark Horse - TWICE, from 2 different directions - before I noticed it on the 3rd pass.

I wonder if black bikes are invisible to cagers as well?

I saw the Dark Horse on the show room floor. Not for me, I just can see dropping that kind of cabbage on a bike that looks like I rattle canned it in my garage.
However I'm sure there's a market for the bike or it would not have been built.
The dealer told me it's comes with a warning, do not use wax or a buffer etc because the "paint" will loose it's dull finish, or something like that.

I thought this was a thread about an Indian that leaked oil on the showroom floor.

Or an Indian named Leaking Horse.

OK, I'm going back to my "race together" bean squeezings.

Everyone is doing the black primer look, I don't get it either. I think it might look better if Indian offered this Chief as a separate model without the fender and frame valances kind of a more modern look for the same basic bike. And offer gloss black tins to contrast the flat areas.

This picture from the Indian site reminded me of the last picture taken of my Triumph. A photographer friend called and asked if she could use my bike for a shoot since the one she had lined up fell through at the last minute. Can't remember what it was used for or the model's name but they had to blur the Triumph brand name for copyright. Note she is using the passenger peg as a fake kickstarter.

You can fix scratches on that paint scheme with a black sharpie marker. lol

Even my dealer thinks the Indian Classic is a better buy than the Dark Horse. For a couple thousand more, you're getting a lot more machine.

Works both ways!
The shoot was done in a vacant lot and the background and effects were added later. There were 3 different models on my bike that day and a bunch of pictures it was an interesting morning!
