When cleaning air filter, ascertain filter assembly is installed correctly (open side up).... This will cause the right cylinder to NOT FIRE, due to lack of airflow...the plug is actually firing, but not enough air to sustain BOTH cylinders...not sure why the left cylinder fires, it must have some kind of priority.... I tinkered with swapping plug wires from side to side, swapping coil packs, coil pack inputs, removing and cleaning carbs, and the whole time, my air filter was installed upside down....dumbass! Re-installed air filter correctly, runs like new....just a note for those of you that MAY be approaching the same mental senility as me!

It takes a big man to admit something like that. It's akin to the couple o' time I (might have) leaned my bike over after parking WITHOUT the kickstand down... but I'd never let on that that actually happened!

I've never done that either folks, honest!
The stupidest I ever felt[recently anyway] was when I pulled up at a petrol pump and went to put the kickstand down. The ball of which went straight through the rubber and up into the heel of my boot.I wrenched it off but not before toppling and being wedged against the pump on one side and holding my bike which was nearly past the point of no return and hitting the ground on the other.A lady[they breed some tough ones in Aust.] came over and helped me,a big strong biker[not],to right the bike. After profuse thanks I slinked quietly away on my bike. The boots hit the rubbish bin with a clang!
Dinosaur.

My favorite, how many on here have refilled the engine with fresh oil, before reinstalling the drain plug?

Not quite what I did, but I did change the oil once without putting the washer back with the drain plug. I had to drain it all out and start over.

I forgot the washer once and thought I would be fast enough to just spill a little, but made a fantastic mess, and wasted two quarts of oil.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

You fought the oil... And the oil won...

Didn't quite do all that, but i had the bike on my lift wrong and ended putting about 3 quarts of oil all over my garage floor before getting the bike and oil bucket all positioned right.
