Can't believe this year will mark 20 years since the death of the Kiwi genius John Britten. What a shame the man died at such a tender age of 45.

However, his legacy of extreme innovation in the field of motorcycle design and engineering will live on for decades to come.

I've loved that machine since I first learned of it in the early-1990s, and I've sworn to myself that IF I ever win the lottery, one of the first things I'm going to do is seek out all ten of the owners of these fantastic motorcycles and make one of 'em an offer they can't refuse!

I'm guessing the current narket value of one of 'em is probably around $300K USD or maybe more.

Saw my first one in person(the "Bubble Gum"-colored baby blue and pink one) at the "Art of The Motorcycle" show in Las Vegas, 2001. Must have spent half an hour investigating all the innovative design work Britten put into it. And, a few years later, I actually watched that very bike being run three exhibition laps at near full-throttle on the Southern California racetrack of Willow Springs Raceway. Was standing right next to it in the paddock area when they started it up. WHAT a great sound it makes. Sort of a cross between a modern Ducati Twin and a Harley-Davidson XR750 racer.

(...thanks for posting this, Stephen!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
