Not high speed or even medium speed, more like comical speed; but a number of years ago I was heading for home pulling into Monticello UT on hwy 666 in my 72 GMC slant six pickup with a 76 Triumph secured in the bed.
Spying me poking down the road, a Utah Highway Patrolman did U turn, as the color coded safety inspection sticker indicated expiration. But a number of vehicles got in between me and him before he could get in behind me. Knowing what was up and hoping for opportunity, I swung unnoticed into the local Husky station to get a quicky $15 inspection. Unfortunately the mechanic had left for the day. While inside I saw the UHP patrol car go by. I drank a pop or something to kill time and improve my chances. Continuing northbound on 666, I met the same UHP officer who again pulled a U turn, but traffic was busy and it took vital moments. I made the crest of a long steep downhill, the slant six GMC making smart time. I met a number of Ore trucks pulling pup trailers, drivers giving me the thumbs up, but I was no match for a determined UHP officer. He gave me a safety violation notice, which was dismissed when I got the inspection. He also commented that I should have been on the bike!!

. I can't remember why I was hauling it that day??
