In OKC low gas prices are in the $1.53-1.59 range here in Tulsa it's in the $1.63-1.70 range. I heard Jim Cramer on "Mad Money" explain it was like giving a family that typically spends $2400 a year on gas a $1,000 tax rebate financed from outside the country. Specifically OPEC. He said the loss of jobs in the energy industry is small and affect on the economy is insignificant. It costs me $35 to fill my 20 gallon tank compared to $70 a year ago.

$2.35 here in Washington State. But our Governor wants to quickly enact an executive order tax now that it's cheap, for the environment. The Wa St environment evidently suffers from low gas prices, who knew?

Gas in Alberta Canada is 70 cents a ltr, we have not seen those kinds of prices in more then a few years, unfortuanley for us we are an oil province and it could cost many people their livelyhood if it does not rebound soon.

I usually get confused with the whole liter vs. gal thing (you know, public educated and everything), but I did some figuring. 9.5 US gallons of gas at $1.75 per gal. is $16.63. The same amount in liters is 35.96 liters x .70 per liter is $25.17. That's still pretty high. I guess I am lucky that there are lots of oil refineries in my state. We have cheap gas but we pollute the world.

$1.96 on my last road trip (1.92 using my Pilot card). But nothing was as cheap as 2 weeks ago. I pulled into a Shell station behind an old rattletrap Cherokee. The woman driving told me she had gone inside and prepaid, but her tank wouldn't hold all the fuel and she wasn't going to bother going back inside to get the overage. I guess she had paid based on the prices of a few weeks earlier. She handed me the hose, drove off and I finished pumping the rest of the fuel into my tank. She left me about 7 gallons of fuel.

Here's what bugs me. When gas is high, the pundits and news services harp on how high fuel prices are hurting the economy. And when prices are low, they say that the prices are hurting the economy. Ya can't win. All I know, is that my fuel bill averages $450 dollars a month to drive my big work truck around, and that puts a BIG dent in what I make. I DO think that we, as a concerned collection of citizens, should take up a collection for the oil companies, since last nights news related how "hard" the oil companies are taking it. Their profits are WAY down. Ohhhhhh, boooooooo hoooooo. (ooops, I forget, when their profits are down, that's bad for the economy!)

Profits are down, but still a profit none the less.

Last time I looked here it was at $1.79nz a liter down from around $2.20nz only a few weeks ago

True, taxes are going up this year so when gas goes back up to where it was everyone will have less money in their pockets.

Pretend the rate hasn't dropped take that extra $ and stick it into savings or invest in the oil industry as the shares hit bottom rather then blowing it on something you don't really need. The pinch when it comes wont feel as bad.

Gasoline prices down + increase in sales of bigger vehicles + increase in demand for gasoline = increase in price of gasoline.

And math wasn't even my favorite subject.

The down side to the economy of low crude prices isn't to the gasoline producers, it's the the small to medium size crude producers who have borrowed operating cash through issuing of bonds and bank loans.

The real lack demand has to do with the overall slowing of the global economy.

I can't find the chart I saw on Business News Network today
about how many tanker vessels there are on the oceans of the world but it tops 2300 and it has been there for a while with no prospect of slowing.

Sure, but sink ONE and watch gas go up 30 cents. Happened with the Exxon Valdez. And the OTHER recent thing that bugs me is the story I caught the tail end of on the news. Some congressman is introducing a bill to add 25 cents more tax to gas now that it is down. Ya can't catch a break with politicians!

Found the chart or I should say found the BNN broadcast showing the chart. It only goes back to 2005 when there was 1500+ tankers on the seas so when the Valdez went down in 1989 I guess there were far fewer hence a much more dramatic effect on the perception of the business community. I suspect if a tanker went down today the only effect would be the poor wild life that is killed by it.

With prices down here in Ontario, the Provincal Government is going to introduce a carbon tax. This money will go toward green jobs... like creating windmill powered cars.

I wish the US would push natural gas more. I could get behind the idea of a big ole honkin 4x4 Truck or SUV that gets 40mpg.

I filled up the wife's car for less than $20 last night. $1.83.9 per gallon. But then I remember gas wars when it would get down to 25 cents. Of course I was making $1.60 an hour working part time in a grocery store and was 16 at the time, about 45 years ago.

They want to raise the tax when the price is low thinking we're too stupid to realize that that tax will still be there when prices go back up.

If they really cared about fixing roads and bridges they would spend the money they already have on roads and bridges instead of underwriting empty buses and little used bike trails. Here in Iowa they are spending millions reconfiguring rural interstate exits that work just fine and building fancy new rest stops when the ones they already have are sufficient.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Here they pave the same section of road every couple years when it doesn't need it but on both sides of that are falling apart.

I still long for the days when I could fill up the bike for 75 cents or the car for $4. Sure, I was getting paid less, but I was in a lower tax bracket too, so I was keeping more of my paycheck.

That's what astounds me about all the people clamoring for raising the minimum wage. The ones most affected just don't see it! Dumb masses!

Yep it's like I always say " nothin changes but the numbers" . When a skilled trade worker was making $5-9 hr you could buy a car for 2k now he makes $30-40 hr and car is 20k gas was .25 now 3.35 . Nothing changes but the numbers !! First house I bought was 10k Same house now ? 65k . Min wage? What a joke !! They want to raise it cuz there are no real jobs anymore and people my age are trying to support their family on Mickey d money ! Kids are suppose to be working at Mickey d !! Not somebody my age lol if the govt would fix it so that corps felt like returning to U S then there would be good jobs and the kids could get back to working Mickey d and there would be no need for min wage

Uh oh... is the end of the low gas prices near? Gas in Tulsa went up from $1.63 to $1.75 over the weekend.

Not likely just someone trying to make a buck in this economy of low oil prices. It will not move much per gallon (and I might say its soooo below what we pay) for a while up to 6 months.

To compare gasoline pricing one has to subtract the fed/state / local motor fuels taxe. For example, I filled up for $1.67 / gal in Kansas City Mo., that's $1.67 - .3570 = $1.31 / gal sans government vig.

Well, I would say most ARE TOO STOOPID to realize this! A couple of national commentators are advocating for raising sales taxes. SOBs. When the little guy FINALLY gets a little break, someone want's to take it away! WHAT? Ya think after gas prices go back up, that tax is gonna DISSAPEAR? My work truck eats up about 25% of my profit, but I can't hardly do it any other way. Instead of it costing me $100 to fill, it is now costing me about $60. It gives me a little breather. I'd like to kick these tax raisers in the nether region!
