They want to raise the tax when the price is low thinking we're too stupid to realize that that tax will still be there when prices go back up.

Well, I would say most ARE TOO STOOPID to realize this! A couple of national commentators are advocating for raising sales taxes. SOBs. When the little guy FINALLY gets a little break, someone want's to take it away! WHAT? Ya think after gas prices go back up, that tax is gonna DISSAPEAR? My work truck eats up about 25% of my profit, but I can't hardly do it any other way. Instead of it costing me $100 to fill, it is now costing me about $60. It gives me a little breather. I'd like to kick these tax raisers in the nether region!

I am seeing a barrage of articles (at least 2 a day) mentioning how bad it is for the economy to have gas prices so low, trying to convince us that life will be more beautiful if gas prices were much higher than this!!!

Are you kidding???

We get a break from paying so much, now it is cheaper, and we can do more with our money (like spending it somewhere else, I thought THAT would help the economy!)) and it is supposed to be bad for the economy!!!! which economy? the deep pockets of our politicians in league with the medias and multinational oil companies?

Just great!

That's what happens when you adopt that froggy measuring system. Gas only went up 10 cents per GALLON here.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Up .15 here in the past 10 days or so.

Politicians have stopped talking gasoline taxes and are back to talking about raising property taxes. Oh, but we need the extra money to make our city world class, they say. Sure.

Elected officials don't understand markets, they fear them, there is no margin for graft.

Pretend the rate hasn't dropped take that extra $ and stick it into savings or invest in the oil industry as the shares hit bottom rather then blowing it on something you don't really need. The pinch when it comes wont feel as bad.

Yup, that's the smart thing to do for sure. Oil drillers / exploration companies in the U.S. are taking the brunt of the decline in crude prices but there are some real deals out there for the savvy investor. Crude prices will stabilize as wells are taken out of production and 6 months down the road we'll be right back where gas prices were before the excess supply hit the markets.
