No. I keep my little scooter clean, and I just pass 'em by.
Even if I smell chrome, I will not stop. Now, a dirt path can lead to a brilliant rebuilder. I had a '62 panhead motor rebuilt by an old man near Fresno, CA. He was THE BEST! He asked me what I wanted. I told him, "I want an engine that will run forever. I don't want more horses, I want a motor that will last". He said, "Great! we'll do it. Finally, someone who knows that the more power you get, the faster your motor wears out."
Then I spoke those fateful words that I'll always remember.
"Oh yes, I don't want it to leak any oil."
He looked at me with his brow drawn tight, and said, "Then how the he11 you gonna know if you got any oil?"
The engine purred like a kitten and cost me $730 in 1974.
Or should I say..... It potatoed like a kitten.......
potato..potato..potato..potato
But it was a dirt driveway, not gravel.
