I know I've posted this before, but can't find the thread now...2005 America has starter gear pinion boss cracked. Attempted modification/repair failing. Need link to the kit they sell to repair the boss...Comes with a "plate" that fits over the boss, and JB Weld....Need to buy a kit and another pin before spring. Thanks in advance...doc

Not designed to fix that just re-enforce it. If you have all the pieces of the case UI think it will work though.

Can you share the link for the kit? I'm just curious what they came up with. About 4 or 5 years ago I had the same problem and ended up fixing it myself by pinning the shaft to the engine case and cover. 20k miles since and no problems so far. Thanks Max

I'd like to see pic's of this fix. It may benefit others, after-the-fact.

Thanks for the link. I posted pics and the repair I did here back in 2010, I don't have the pics anymore and you can only search back 3 years. I made a pin that would fit in the shaft and stick out both ends about 3/8", drilled a hole in the boss on both the engine case and the cover. Put it all back together and it's been good ever since. I opened it up a couple of years ago to see if the pin was wearing the holes I drilled but it was fine. Total cost about $40 for the pin which I had made from a grade A bolt. Not bad considering Triumph wanted almost $4k.

I remember you posting that stuff. I think maybe that and the TTP part together would be a bullet proof repair.

Thanks Gregger, how about that! Hopefully it helps anyone that's unfortunate enough to have the same problem.
