I USED to think that a "Bobber" was anything owned (or performed ) on anyone named Bob. Hence, ALL my bikes were Bobbers, and most of my dreams were about "Bobbers".
Since then, I found out I was only HALF right. But the most important half was right!

And so, I suppose "Choppers" are only owned by Orthodontists, RIGHT erle?!
Btw folks, ANOTHER thing that differentiates a "Bobber" from a "Chopper" is that AFTER all the customizing is done on the former, the machine can STILL usually be used to have fun on while traversing twisty roads with some measure of efficiency, and whereas the latter because of its stretched out wheelbase is a veritable B*I*T*C*H to ride on such roads, and hence the reason I personally have NO affinity whatsoever for the latter, 'cause I REALLY LIKE riding on twisty roads 'cause THAT'S were all the FUN is and NOT on some freakin' straight-as-a-freakin'-arrow road. THAT'S BORING!!! Hell, ya MIGHT as well be in some freakin' CAR, 'cause ya don't LEAN a freakin' car into turns like ya can a MOTORCYCLE! Well, at least motorcycles that haven't had the ability to LEAN into turns with some efficiency taken away from 'em anyway!!!
(...however, I suppose IF your "objective" is SOLELY to "look really cool" while ridin' around on some straight-as-a-freakin'-arrow road, then a Chopper MIGHT be for YOU!...yep, as they say, "To Each Their Own", RIGHT?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
