Good Morning!!!! I am looking for a good sandblaster to prep parts for painting. Does anyone have experience with a model you would recommend? I already have the air compressor, and the size of the parts would be less than 2 x 3 feet on average.
Any suggestions?

I suggest you go with a cabinet type, makes sand reclamation easier. Just Google sandblaster, they are as numerous as Horse Poop on the road 150 years ago.

Harbor Freight is where I got both of mine and they both work very well and were cheap. You need the right kind of blaster for the job, a pressure blaster will remove anything pretty fast but can warp sheet metal or damage delicate parts. A siphon blaster is less likely to damage things but takes forever on painted parts and tends to clog. On both be ready to buy replacement tips regularly. You need a very large compressor too as they require a lot of air to run (cfm cubic feet per minute) or you will blast a very short time and wait for the compressor to catch up flogging the compressor. You will also need to decide what medium you want to use and that is usually in direct relation to the material the item to be blasted is made of and how delicate it is. It is very easy to ruin things with a blaster.

Agree with most of what Ian said. If you are only going to do small parts with limited area, the hand held guns that have a siphon hose work ok. Takes a little time and you can use some sand up, but sand is fairly cheap.

You can blast with crushed walnut shells or soda on very delicate parts. Glass beads is another option.

I use glass bead and/or soda on brass parts, sugar sand is usually decent for sheet metal, especially thick pieces like motorcycle tanks and fenders
avoid the white sand, or wear a respirator to prevent silicosis
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.
