As already noted, very high temp paint will work. I left the double walled / chromed outer skin in place. Scuffed, prepped, painted & baked mine about 1&1/2 years ago. Has held up better than I expected. Have since read about the Eastwood paints and that looks like a good product.
Ceramic coating would likely be better but for the cost, paint works just fine for me.
